Lord of Chaos
by Robert Jordan
The more ponderous pace takes some getting used to, but if you’re this far into the series you’re used to the focus on the intricacies of human interaction. I think this entry dealt with it much more deftly than in previous installments, as things played out like a very complex chess game, building to something bigger. The series has struggled to balance this with its more bombastic opening novels, but I feel it has finally matured into a story where every decision could have world breaking effects. And it does.
So in short, prepare for a more cerebral and political novel, and you will enjoy its twists and turns.
