A Shadow in the Ember by Jennifer L. Armentrout

5.0

Was this From Blood and Ash with dragons? YES. Did I think it was perfect? YES.

I think this book caught more shade than it probably needed to. I do understand the complaints, but I do think that those are issues that were found in all 3 books in the From Blood and Ash series and just like with those, I enjoyed this book so much that I DO NOT CARE ABOUT ANY OF THAT.

I loved Nyktos and Sera more than even Casteel and Poppy and I actually enjoyed the similarities between the two.

As for the story line, I enjoyed the whole book. I went into this hoping to get more details for A War of Two Queens, but by 100 pages I was so attached to these characters that I didn't care if I got that or not. It was an added bonus to me when we actually did get the FBAA tie ins at the end of the book, which made me enjoy this even more.

And uhhhh.... Daddy Nyktos.

Update after reading for the 2nd time:

I picked this book up the first time a few weeks after it was released. This go around, I reread FBAA 1-3 and read ASITE right after in preparation of TWOTQ, and I liked it even more. It felt like the perfect continuation of a story line I already loved.

The first time I read this I gave it 4⭐️, but I enjoyed it so much more the second time.
