This Is How You Lose the Time War by Max Gladstone, Amal El-Mohtar

4.0

the biggest thing this book suffers from is the weight of expectations, given that anyone who recommends this book will say it's the best thing they've ever read. it's lovely and I really enjoyed it. blew through it in two nights. from a purely technical standpoint, this book is an incredible achievement. and it's a highly engrossing read. but there's a real "economy of characters" issue that makes the way the plot is headed fairly predictable. and you've got to get through a bit of millennial cringe in the first few letters ("sorry-not-sorry" and such ). great read, but it's not even the best book I read this week (sidebar go read Two-Step Devil!!)
