The House in the Woods by Mark Dawson

2.5

Average at best. It was pretty obvious since the beginning who the killer was despite the book's efforts to lead you somewhere else. Mack spends more time neglecting her family and thinking about how attractive she still finds Atticus than actually doing her job and she is kind of incompetent as a detective regardless, mostly to highlight Atticus' brilliance, which read as arrogance from time to time. My favourite character was the dog Atticus was taking care of. Not continuing with the series.
