Great characters with complex backgrounds. I loved that the story is told from the perspectives of the killer and the law enforcement officers. The story moves along at a quick pace and many of the chapters end on a mini-cliffhanger, which definitely kept me engaged and wanting more. The law enforcement detectives pursuing the killer have complicated personal histories and a lot of emotional baggage ready to interfere with their best judgment, but they’re easily people you can sympathize with and want to root for.
I listened to the audiobook and felt the narrator, Elizabeth Knowelden, did an excellent job. Ms. Knowelden was able to give each of the many characters in this book a unique voice.
