high key did not like this book lol this was the book everyone was hyping up??

i tried so hard to like this and i just couldn't - i have the biggest issue with insecure female main characters. i feel like in romance novels they come off as YA protagonists that are ~not like other girls~ it comes off so immature, idk

i loved stevie but i wish she was more fleshed out, i feel like her only character traits were that she was a flight attendant, she loves dogs, and loves to go thrifting. she came off as those girls whose whole personality is loving friends as a tv show. (also, the way they kept commenting on secondhand clothes as ratty, old, and ugly? unnecessary)

also, i hated zanders with a passion in the beginning, i didn't start to like him as a character until the end. he has the whole playboy asshole persona going for him and he says that's just "for the media" but in his chapters when he's thinking of stevie he still comes off as a playboy asshole. like there was nothing kind or wholesome about him in the beginning.

also stevie, girl, PLEASE, raise your standards. she called this man KIND because he offered to walk her home from the bar!! that's just considerate please.

anyways, read this or don't, just know it needs a lot of work and i'm not surprised it's no ones fave in the series
