Rise of the Black Panther by Paul Renaud, Evan Narcisse, Javier Pina, Ta-Nehisi Coates

4.0

3.5 stars. I think it's time for me to move on from comic books, but I say this with a heavy heart.
First of all, the art in this is insanely beautiful! The colors are vibrant and especially the individual chapter covers are stunning! This is probably my favourite comic style.
I also generally enjoyed the story, it's fairly close to the movie one), because it deals with such interesting and conflicting topics.
But I just don't love having to navigate between the speech bubbles for such a long time. It works for short comic strips but I found it hard to focus on the story. That was unfortunately also aided by the narrative jumps, which are harder to navigate in comics than in novels.
Having said that, I would love a novelisation of this storyline, because I don't feel like I will continue on with the comics.
The pacing of the plot felt a little odd to me, but then I'm just not used to comics and their tone atm and this was, I believe, just the beginning of a longer arc, so it wouldn't be fair to really fault it for that.
