Really well balanced — mostly appropriate snark and humor, great tension building. I felt like the characters were well-developed. The narration got a bit cloying at times but I think the “historical” narratives kind of needed that. I would have loved the Ava and Lainey histories to be explored more and actually follow the three modern main characters through the end of the story. It was trying to tell a lot of stories, and I think it succeeded in telling most of them, but the ending felt rushed, and there were backstories that were presented and never delved into that felt juicy.
Excellent writing and story telling, very curious to read more from this author.
