This book is honestly pretty amazing. I would have read it in one sitting if not for life getting in the way, so I read it in two. It does get dark, though, both in terms of on-page torture and some gruesome murders. My main complaint was how female characters were in the background or existed as fodder, so I'd officially rate it 4.5, but am giving it 5 on the accumulated total because I'd still consider it worth rereading. (And there's a new installment of the series that has been announced, so I may as well reread the whole thing so I refresh myself for the fourth book.)
