Win by Harlan Coben
3.0

I've read several of the Myron Bolitar series and enjoyed most of them. WLH III was a bit-part sidekick in those and he was a great foil for Bolitar - an interesting character who added a dimension and depth. But in Win he's the main character in a first person, present tense investigation. Bolitar himself is just a shadow in this book (apparently Netflix now own the rights to the previous books) although he gets mentioned a lot.

All the depth and interest he added in the Bolitar series? It's missing here. Outside of the first chapter, and when he's broefly kidnapped, I wasn't taken by WLH III at all. I found the overall plot a little dull and not particularly connected (a firebombing in the 70s, six people who disappeared, missing valuable paintings and the murder of some ten women / girls in horrific circumstances).

The book was oh-kay, but not (IMHO) up to the standard of other Coben's - there were twists, yes, but I didn't really care. In fact, I wasn't captured by almost the entire novel.
