This series is more philosophical and interior than other dystopian YA that I’ve read.
It won’t satisfy people looking for battles and fast paced plotting.
Emphasis is more toward “coming of age” story.
Who am I? Who do I trust? Will I question the status quo? What do I stand for? What are all of the nuances of love? Etc.

It was interesting to read this post pandemic because I think she nailed how people behave, make choices, vilify, and seek leadership, try to maintain power, try to discern what the truth is in that situation. How everything can be politicized.
Plus I resonate with the themes of art and creativity, and the importance of conscience and integrity, the importance of choosing over and over again.

The themes were strong and I found the writing engaging.
