Very enjoyable novel. I struggled to put it down when I should have been going to bed. Cordelia's character development is realistic and well written, particularly for someone in her position. Imogen and Penelope are so much fun and lighten what is a dark story. I've known women like Evangeline, and her relationship with her daughter - while here was fantastical in the literal sense of the word - was a scarily accurate portrait of an enmeshed parent-child relationship. This book was an interesting fantasy story, but also a portrait of an abusive relationship that I'm sure many can relate to.
