I love Sara Bareilles and her songwriting talent, so I was excited to see how that translated to writing a book. She tells the story of writing the song "I Won't Write You a Love Song" when her producers asked her to write one. Sara didn't want to be told what to do. Well, this book could have been entitled _I Won't Write You a Memoir_.

I have read memoirs that are more tight-lipped than this one (looking at you, Sam Heughan), but this was scant on personal details and very safe. It felt like it didn't need to exist at this point in her career and didn't have much of a purpose.
