it was very difficult for me to get through this book. a lot of the time i just couldn't bring myself to read it because i didn't care about what was happening. that being said, i'm glad i finished it, and i loved the ending. i think it's strong as a concept, but it just dragged on so much. i think it would have worked better if it were condensed into a short story. all in all, i get why kafka didn't publish it, but i'm also glad max brod didn't burn it.
