a great, quick read to get me out of my reading rut and ready to consume all things creepy for the season!
this book was a lot of fun. the narration, setting, and villains gave it a classic stephen king vibe, and its great description of scenes only made it easier to imagine this as a made-for-tv movie or seasonal miniseries you'd catch one night in october. nothing stunning or mind-blowing, but super enjoyable and succeeded in getting me hype for halloween.
i will say...when the october boy carjacked that one guy abd started driving around town, all i could picture was jack o'lantern from the "grim adventures of billy and mandy" halloween special (iykyk) doing donuts in a sportscar and that would make me laugh every time. not the book's fault! just a silly imagination.
