Parnassus on Wheels by Christopher Morley

3.0

This classic book is a timeless tale of wanting more than the life that you have. I enjoyed it and it was a quick read since it's very short. However, I think that there were missed opportunities to expound on several key plot points.

"Parnassus on Wheels" is a charming novella that revolves around the adventures of Helen McGill, a middle-aged woman seeking a change in her routine life. When a traveling bookstore comes into her life, driven by the charismatic Roger Mifflin, Helen embarks on a literary journey, discovering the joys of books and the pursuit of one's passions. The novella explores themes of independence, love, and the transformative power of literature, delivering a delightful and heartwarming tale.

My favorite quotes:
"If a man is settled in one place he years to wander, when he wander he yearns to have a home. And yet how bestial is content - all the great things in life are done by discontented people."
