I enjoyed this and it probably would have been a four star read, but it could have used a bit more editing as there were several spots where things got a bit confusing.
The book does end on a pretty huge cliffhanger, but if you just want to read till the main mystery wraps up either don't read the epilogue, or stop after"Marlow glanced at him quickly—a flicker of gray visible as he looked over the top of his glasses—and then laughed."
