Children of Dune by Frank Herbert

4.0

Whilst I think the genius of Herbert’s vision for Dune is slightly fraying with these sequels, I still find them to be worthwhile reads, imploring me to ponder upon the several (still current) themes discussed.

Children of Dune is the 3rd book in the Dune series, and I found it to be better than Dune Messiah- a much more cohesive plot, better character work, and ultimately much more engaging.
Herbert’s continued intricate attention to detail and his complex characters and dialogue is nothing short of mastery: in the sci-fi and any other literary space!
I feel this book was one big foreshadowing for the next book and I look forward to seeing where this leads.

I don’t think I will rate any of the sequels as highly as the original Dune book, however I will probably continue to rate these books highly as I believe the topics discussed where frankly revolutionary for the time period and I find them to still be incredibly relevant today!
