I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this one, Charlie was not the hero in the last book, and he was not always likeable. He needed a redemption story and this was pretty much it, even though it's from Alice's POV. We get to see Charlie in the aftermath of his choices and how they affected and changed him. And we get to see once-shy Alice come to life and learn how to be louder in her life and more true to herself. I really liked this story, but in a different way than Every Summer After. That book grabbed my heart and just kept squeezing it until I was wrung out. This one was bittersweet in some ways but it felt more healing. It's Alice's story, but it'salso Charlie's forgiveness.
Moderate: Chronic illness, Sexual content, Grief, Death of parent, Injury/Injury detail
