Oof. I really, really liked the original Chronos series. This one didn't quite hit the same, though. For one, there was a major learning curve: I actually stopped a few chapters and went back to reread the original series so I'd know what on earth was going on.

Even so, it was a fun ride, but I'm hoping the next book stands alone a bit more firmly.

It's a high three, but it's a three.
