Heroes Reborn by Patricia Lyfoung, Patrick Sobral, Philippe Ogaki

adventurous hopeful mysterious medium-paced

I'm always on the lookout for graphic novels that my kids may one day enjoy. And I saw this one at the bookstore but decided to wait and check it out from my library. While I don't know if it has staying powers - there a lot of mythical graphic novels out there, and I am sure more will be available - especially against the traditional superhero comics, I definitely enjoyed this one. I am hoping that we are given more than just this story and that each character's story continues as they learn to harness their power and fight the baddies. With this, three different stories and three different pantheons are explored. Japan with Raijin vs. Fuijin, Egypt with Horace vs. Seth and Berlin with Freya vs. Loki. This is funny and hopeful even though the battle isn't over. Each character reacts differently to inheriting powers. I really liked that the success for the heroes didn't come easy and nor was it guaranteed. The way that this ended left me to believe that more would be coming, and I can't wait to see what happens.
