Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones

5.0

the studio ghibli movie adaptation has always had a special place in my life, so i have decided to start reading it this noon cause i wasn't having a great day and it has honestly been the best decision.

i loved it so much. diana wynne jones' writing has a very friendly, warm, and magical tone to it. the whimsical atmosphere paired with amazing characters and writing made me really happy while reading it.

the story is vastly different, with some similar beats to the studio ghibli adaptation, but that's what makes it all the more lovable. it's such a great and lovely story that every version of it makes my heart warm in a different way.

it is a timeless story as well, age-wise. no matter how old you are, if the movie has struck a cord in you, then i think you will be carried away with this book. it makes you feel better. it makes you feel the small speck of magic left in your heart regardless of if you have given it to a fire demon for a deal.
