The Gates of Rome by Conn Iggulden
3.0
This was added to my library wishlist many years ago when I got my first ereader and browsed the collections at random (i.e., well before my Goodreads TBR was longer than my have-read list). For some reason I had the idea it was the start of a duology. Wrong! There are five books in this series, and while I'm not a stickler for historical accuracy over storytelling, the thought of diluting my thimbleful of knowledge with a five-book deluge of incorrect information did give me pause. Fortunately, while it was a tolerable audiobook listen, I considered sticking around for the second book only for the sake of closure, and learning there are actually five makes it easier to stop right here.
