I adored the last 25% of this book, but it took me a long time to get there, mostly because... I'm not sure, the voice didn't quite gel with me? I found it too slow? I don't know. I think gothic is a voice I'm not used to, so it took a while. Who knows, maybe my rating will change when I look back
I also feel like the epilogue shouldn't have been there, and there should have been a sequel. Which is not at all down to AB Poranek and entirely down to the publisher, but I think there was beautiful set up for a second book and it's a shame that that won't happen
