Rated this a 5 stars three years ago, but rereading it now it's evident that my taste has greatly changed. I still really love the exploration into sex and work as an expectation of society... but it ends there. I feel like prose has become a really critical factor of enjoyment for me, and unfortunately Murata's writing is very simple (which isn't really a criticism because obviously straight and simple writing works well with the stories she is telling, but still it's not quite gelling with me).
