The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

1.5

I was very excited to read this but it felt like the book was written just to evoke emotions in the readers. The characters have no real depth and the plot felt extremely contrived and pretentious.

Additionally, this book brushes over the fact that Henry essentially grooms Clare from age 6 by showing up naked near her house when she is 6 and he's 36 and then goes on to have several meetings with her over the years painting himself as his future lovee/husband, not to forget, he has sex with her very shortly after she turns 18 and he is in his 40s.

This novel dragged on for a long time and a lot of unimportant details were mentioned at length and the important issues were just brushed past (like Clare getting assaulted and Henry avenging her by harassing another minor???) The characters are kind of plain, specifically Clare, who have nothing in common really. And the ending just did not really contribute much to anything apart from maybe generating some tears from the readers. It did nothing to develop characters or the story in a meaningful way.

This was not the time travel book i expected it to be. Not recommended!!!!
