Project Duchess by Sabrina Jeffries
5.0

4.5 stars.

There was nothing about this that I didn't love. There was only 1 minor thing that kept this from being a solid 5 stars but this was such a joy to read.

Grey is the eldest child of 5 siblings, his mother's 3rd husband has just died and he heads to his mother's home to attend the funeral. There he meets and has an instant clash with Beatrice Wolfe, his half brother's cousin (Grey and Beatrice aren't related by blood), which I really liked that a couple times when it's mentioned how they are related it was instantly followed with 'and we're not related by blood, thank God'.

The only thing that kept this from being a full 5 stars was that we were told more than shown Grey's grouchy side. Yes, there were some instances here there but it wasn't as grouchy or cold as I would have expected for what we were told about his character.

Would have finished this in one day, since I didn't want to put this down, but I was too tired last night and decided to save the final 50 pages for today.

Sabrina Jeffries books are very pallet cleansing and also is one of those authors that satisfies my historical romance cravings. I read a couple of historical romances recently that just didn't satisfy me but this one did. It had a mystery, which I think is going to be the series mystery or at least carry on for the next couple books, a romance that I really loved watching unfold, and really wonderful sibling relationships with both Grey's family and Beatrice with Joshua.

I am very excited to read the next one!
