The Cat Who Came in Off the Roof by Annie M.G. Schmidt
5.0

I remember reading this book years ago for school and really enjoying it, so I wanted to see if it still holds up. Surprisingly, I enjoyed it even more for the same and completely new reasons.

I love the humour (
Spoiler the History Cat giving “news”, the therapist listening to Minou and all of the quotes you can laugh at out of context
). Also, I adore the idea of cats having their own little society and how realistic their lives felt (basically human), it’s just more intriguing and unique. My only major critique would be how
Spoilerbrutal and horrible Tibble acts towards Minou especially towards the beginning of the book.

Of course, some parts are a bit hard to believe, but I’d still say this book deals with them far better than most children’s stories. I would have loved to see this as a series and it’s a shame the author is now gone, though I’m glad we got the chance to read this thanks to her :)
