I must admit something to you all, I have absolutely zero idea what the difference is between chess & checkers. But this book made me wish I had taken the risk and joined my HS Chess Club when I had the chance.
This book was equal parts funny, romantic, and heart-warming. I wasn't sure what to expect from Ali after all the adult goodness she has given us but I was definitely pleasantly surprised. I felt all of the teenage angst and yearning with this story. While undoubtedly YA in reading, it is more of upper YA or as a close door New Adult book with the FMC and MMC in late teens and early 20s respectively.
