Among Heroes: A U.S. Navy Seal's True Story of Friendship, Heroism, and the Ultimate Sacrifice by John David Mann, Brandon Webb

4.0

-This was a First Read Win-

I was so excited when I won this novel written by Brandon Webb. It was one of the first books I won as a giveaway but I've also been really interested in what is really happening with the war. It's also important that these stories of these men that risk their lives, die saving our countries names are imprinted somewhere, that their stories are shared. These men put their lives on hold, on the line to keep us protected for very little award. Men that play football make more then men that risk their lives to keep us safe. I will not rant about how little these men make but focus more on the story of eight brave men that Brandon Webb introduced me to.

This was a good story and a good memory for these men that passed away some who died protecting our nation, and some who died in different ways, but still deserve to be mentioned for the work they did do to keep the United States safe. Sometimes I did feel as if the author spent too much time talking about himself rather then talking about the men, but his story is important too. 'Glen's story' probably hit me the hardest mainly because my heart shook knowing how important this man was to the author as Glen was nearly mentioned in every other story. I also really connected with the man Matt Axelson and even went on to watch Lone Survivor after I completed the book. I learned not only about eight great men, but I learned more about what the Navy Seals is really about and why some great men put their lives on the line to keep us safe.

I'd recommend this book to anybody that is interested in the SEALS, or just interested in reading about eight amazing men that gave up their lives protecting us, their stories deserved to be told. 4/5 for me!
