The writing of this book is so beautiful. It reads somewhat like a fairytale. It is very pretty, with concise sentences and no superfluous details. Honestly, it’s my favorite kind of writing. It’s what kept me going.
The characters were not all perfectly developed, but they were okay. Mari’s mother definitely made me tear up at some parts. Taro’s character was flat, which was a bit disappointing. I feel as if there could’ve been more complexities to his personality, but… By the end, when he tried to mirror his father’s image, that was just.... What? IDK. Maybe I’m missing some key part to his character.
The love was just insta-love. Literally. The total amount of time that Mari and Taro have spoken to each other wouldn’t even amount to an hour. Honestly. I get that it was necessary for the plot, and there wasn’t enough time, but… I’m not sure. Just disappointed.
Anyway, thinking about the plot like this makes me want to knock down a star but I’ll just keep it. The writing was good. Wouldn’t read again, but this was definitely not a bad piece!
