I actually didn't find this book that strange. I understood it and could kind of foresee the ending in the second half of the book. Don't get me wrong, it's still uncomfortable and feels like a total fever dream. The writing style is amazing in a way where it pulls you in and becomes part of the plot. There's so much symbolism and social commentary. So much. It's a book that I know that I will reread again, tabbing the pages and writing in the margins. For this first read I was just along for the ride.
