The Pioneer Woman: Black Heels to Tractor Wheels: A Love Story
by Ree Drummond
This story is about how Ree met and fell in love with her husband, who she calls The Marlboro Man.
She was mid twenties when they met, at a crossroads in her life. She’d gotten out of a four year relationship and decided to move back home to Oklahoma. Her next stop was going to be Chicago. But her plans changed when she met her future husband.
He was unlike any man she’d ever met before. He was a cowboy. She was a girl who grew up in a house on a golf course, not living far from him but living a completely different life. Her life involved country clubs.
I can see why she fell in love with this guy. He seems like a kind, loving gentleman to me. He cared about her feelings and things like whether she made it home ok. I’m not the only one who will say that she got on my nerves. I think she was possibly a bit spoiled by her parents and grew out of it but hadn’t yet done that when she met this guy.
I was interested in the book because I like her cookbooks and wanted to know this story about her life. But what happened was that I came away thinking I could see why she changed her plans to marry the cowboy.
I got an ebook copy of this book from Book Club Girl and was sent the copy through NetGalley. Thanks!
