I give it a 3 because Josephine Leary was an inspiring part of history that I did not know. Otherwise, this book was boring and parts very much unbelievable for the time. It’s difficult for me to conceive that a Black woman in the mid to late 1800s could acquire so much property without any major obstacles due to her gender and race. This book made it seem that way.
