The Hunter by L.J. Shen
4.0

This book was amazing. LJ Shen knows how to write angsty, gripping stories.

I loved being able to learn more about Hunter from the All Saints High series. She also did a tie in with her book Sparrow. It was amazing to see all the characters I already loved in a new setting and story line.

I think this was a wonderful launch to the Boston Belles series.

Hunter was just so loveable and amazing. He is a perfect book boyfriend.

Sailor was a fiesty and strong heroine. She was unapologetically herself and it was refreshing.

“Listen to me carefully, Hunter Fitzpatrick. I may seem like an insecure, average-looking geek to you. And you know what? That’s who I am. I own it. But make no mistake, this insecure geek comes from a long line of people you do not want to screw with, and their savagery rubbed off on me as well. I will not hesitate to pierce your pretty, spoiled-prince heart with one of my pointy arrows.”

The side characters who will be part of this series moving forward were unique and interesting.

Shen also knows how to make books hilarious. I found myself laughing out loud while reading this repeatedly.

“Bet? Yo?” Kill looked at me like I was a horrific car accident. “Who talks like that? What do you have against the English language? You seem to butcher it whenever the opportunity presents itself. Did English hurt you when you were young? Show me where on the doll.”

I enjoyed the plot a lot. I enjoyed learning about Olympic archery. It was an interesting story line coupled with the typical tropes of forced arrangements.

This review is all over the place but really you just have to read it! Especially if you have read her All Saints High or Sparrow books because the tie ins are perfect.
