Seven Deadly Wonders
by Matthew Reilly
Fun in theory and was for about 60 pages. I think it was the part where West is climbing up a ladder and avoids being killed from a falling boulder by blasting it away with a grenade launcher. This was not too long after his pet falcon saved his life by grabbing a falling torch.
I was in the mood to read something mindless and over the top with ridiculous action sequences. However, this book is like being transported to the 90s and reading the fan fiction of a kid in your elementary school class who is obsessed with side scrolling video games, draws out their own interpretations of maps and levels, and then fast forward to high school and they’re still at it.
I really respect the level of dedication to nerdy stuff like that and it’s a culture that I enjoy sometimes, but this just wasn’t it.
