I finished listening to Book Lovers yesterday, it unfortunately wasn’t for me, I’m not sure if listening to it in audio form helped. I didn’t find the characters at all loveable, the main character Nora seemed like a ripoff of Cameron Diaz’s character Amanda in The Holiday except she was meaner and even has some lines that were way too close to lines out of the movie, most notably when Amanda and Jude Law’s character Graham are trying to figure out how they could make their relationship work long distance. There was a lot of excessive and unnecessary swearing and I just find that cheapens a book so much. I found Beach Read much sweeter, this might have been Henry’s attempt at having edgier characters but it just didn’t work for me. I might reread this one day if I get my hands on a copy of it to see if that makes a difference but it’s a 2/5 star read for now.
