I absolutely love the world that Charlie N. Holmberg has created, I am currently working my way through all her books. At first this one felt like an almost after thought to showcase, “Polymaking is the newest form of magic…”. Where as the first three books in the series followed the story of the Paper Magican and his apprentice, this one seemed to dive into a whole new bunch of characters. Although new characters are introduced we do get to see Bennet again, and my favorite part was the subtle appearance of Emory Thane and Ceony Twill (Thane), and get the perfect slight and small glimpse into there lives. Which to be honest is why I bumped up my rating to 4 stars, without that little snippet in giving me some closure, The Plastic Magician would have sat comfortably at 3-3.5 stars for me.
