The Complete Dramatic Works by Samuel Beckett

5.0

The master of absurd fiction is always a delight to read. After studying both Waiting for Godot and Endgame a couple terms back, this complete overview is a welcome experience. I especially liked his shorter plays, which were totally unknown to me beforehand. Instead of fixating on absurd dialogue about life, death, suicide, atheism, etc., these shorter plays are rather minimalistic, but just as powerful. It is hard not to ponder life's deeper questions when reading Beckett. Highly accessible, compared to other absurd texts, without satisfying clichés. 5/5
