A Lady's Guide to Fortune Hunting
by Sophie Irwin
I seldom read Regency romances apart from Georgette Heyer but was tempted by this one and wasn’t disappointed. It is great good fun with a very spirited heroine and attractive hero. The financially parlous position that Kitty and her sisters had been left in meant that her relentless pursuit of a rich husband was very much a necessity and highlighted how vulnerable to economic hardship women were during the Regency period. This leant a slightly darker edge to the general lightness of the novel. A fun read.
