Artemis Fowl: The Graphic Novel by Eoin Colfer

MY REVIEW ON MY BLOG

Fan-TAS-tic.
Pictures are fantastic - the details not only tell the story along with the words but they ADD to the story, giving sense of place and sense of character superbly

It's been years since I read the original novel that I don't remember enough to compare the two, but I do get a sense that the Graphic Novel only includes barebones of the plot- which I guess is par for the course in the world of Graphic Novels - there's not an efficient way to include all of a 300+ page book with full pages of illustration/pictures. I would say that in some instances this is a drawback but this particular GN is so well done - I like being able to get a sense of place via illustration that it really evens out... But, it is somewhat like movie versions of books... there IS just a difference.

Being a lover of fonts AND visual organizational tools - I love that they used different fonts to organize the dialogue vs. narration vs. other sources of commentary and the two "main" characters: Artemis Fowl and Holly Short each talk in different fonts. It's all the small details like that which I highly value.
Did I mention that I loved it?
