3.5 almost 4 stars. i really enjoyed all the characters! it was nice reading about nikolai again. but i just felt like, despite this being the “king of scars” series nikolai was sidelined. he didn’t help progress much of the plot until the last half of the book. i wanted to learn and read more about him and the book fell flat. also, i love nina and i think her storyline was amazing and well written, but also had nothing much to do with the story’s overall plot either.
however the last couple chapters of the book were enjoyable! i can’t wait to see where zoya’s new power takes her, what happens with the war, and of course i have many questions about how nikolai is going to deal with the darkling.
