We Met in December
by Rosie Curtis
This book was fine. The writing wasn’t awful, but I felt confused about why I’m supposed to care. While nothing much happens by way of plot, I was hoping there would be more character development. Jess is great in the sense that she knows what she wants and deserves, but is also living in a fantasy world. Alex is much more interesting in the sense that he is a lawyer-turned-nurse, but the encounters with Emma were not fully explained—his thoughts and reasoning on the matter seemed superficial.
What bothered me most, though, was that there didn’t seem to be any moments of *spark* between Jess and Alex. I can see how their friendly bond formed, but what about the physical moments, the tense moments that are fraught with emotion that have us rooting for a couple? I’m not sure there were any.
