I do enjoy a Marian Keyes book, but I found this one a little bit hard to get along with. It has a LOT of characters (in my opinion, too many) which makes it hard to keep track of who’s who; and the early part of the book jumps back and forth between different periods in Anna’s life, which makes it hard to follow. I couldn’t understand how Anna and, it seemed, so many of her family had apparently been able to keep moving back and forth between living in Ireland and New York, at different times. That some/all of them had apparently lived in New York at various points also made it hard to follow.
Once the flashbacks calm down it becomes much easier to follow.
I got this to read on my holidays and it wasn’t a classic holiday read, in the sense that it was a lot more challenging to follow than I normally like in a holiday book. at various points I felt like I should have started taking notes so I could keep track of it all. It’s certainly not a bad book but it also isn’t my favourite of hers.
