The Children of Men by P.D. James
3.0

While there is no question that P. D. James is a good writer, she seems to spend more time examining the characters and situation than actually moving the story along. This is great if you are more interested in character development -- James' work is a perfect study of that -- but anyone who prefers the story to move along a bit quicker may wind up a bit bored. Certainly The Children of Men is a must read for those interested in dystopian futures -- just be aware that the story moves rather slowly.
