Sula
by Toni Morrison
In typical Morrison style, Sula complicates the binaristic notion of good and bad by presenting Sula and Nell - characters that are seemingly at two ends of the spectrum - as two sides of the same coin. Prose was, as usual, gorgeous yet disorienting. Morrison never fails to capture the painfully human emotion of ambivalence.
