This is one of those old stories I got many years ago when it was first published and I haven't read for a very long time. But in going through my books I felt like it was time to revisit this one. And my general opinion of it is pretty neutral with a slight leaning towards positive.

As a whole the story, the characters, the writing, the world, it's all pretty good. But it's not quite at that point where I would say it's great. It constant toes that line of becoming really good for a number of reasons. The world and writing for example is good, but not quite great as there are just a few moments that feel so typical for a human life style as opposed to the angel one, which normally isn't a problem but the story does build angels up to be a very different creature to humans, so for them to have a lot of matching mannerisms and details in how they view things pulls you out of the story a bit. Or you have the characters who are all interesting and I want to follow them on this adventure, but it never quit hits that point where I would say I find them loveable. A lot of the time they're just there.

Despite those minor issues I still enjoyed it and it's still a book I want to keep on my shelves. I'm not quite sure how I feel about the romance since it isn't the worst but it does feel rushed. Of course, that might be my own immediate prejudice against hetero romances so I'm trying not to judge that part too much because it really isn't the worst that I've read and I fee like it had the chance to be a genuinely good part of the story in the sequel story.
