The End of Policing by Alex S. Vitale

5.0

Vitale executed this book brilliantly. He exposes the history and methods of policing in a variety of areas with an incredible amount of cited research, extremely organized and articulately delivered. Each chapter focuses on a particular issue - for example, racism, homelessness, and mental health issues - and ends with suggested alternatives that are just as well-supported as the history and reports on efficacy. I would definitely recommend this book to folks who are beginning to rethink U.S. police and carceral systems.
