This book was mid. Disappointingly a drag, and the main character Kit was incredibly unlikable. I really wished the author delved more into Diane and her perspective of things. I think a lot could’ve been done with this book, to actually explore the psych of a woman like Diane, but it fell so FLAT.
There wasn’t much understanding from Kit as a child, nor as an adult, and that was frustrating too- because even the doctor they’re studying under tells Kit “yes, you’re still so young” and Kit’s reactions and choices around Diane’s secrets and choices, are pretty immature.
Had I known the ending was going to be so underwhelming, I would’ve DNF’d this book. But now I know what happens and I’m letting future reader know that this is not the type of thriller or mystery that keeps a nice steady pace. This is also not a mystery with a big “gotcha” plot twist. Once you find out the secret the rest of the story is fairly bland and slow. I recommend skipping this read.
