Great 2nd in series. Good intrigue both from the mystery plot and between the MCs with the “will-they-won’t-they” dynamic, but in an organic way that’s true to character. I relate to Cooper way too much, including his anxieties and unwillingness to say what’s on his mind.
But dang - my absolute favorite part of this book was the relationship arc between Cooper and his Dad. I went from extreme dislike to pity to kinship with Sheriff Ed Dayton. I hope there’s more of their arc in future books. (And Dean and Sophie are both super fun secondary characters whom I’d love to see more of as well.)
